The Loveliest Book Group is celebrating 10 Lovely Years with 12 months of festivities planned from July 2012 to commemorate a decade of reading. Between July 2012 and 2013, this blog will publish a series of features from members discussing the experience of being in a regular, committed book group as well as sharing some of the highlights (and lowlights) from the past 10 years.
The group was founded in July 2003 and retains three of its four original members, friends who pledged to meet monthly in central London to discuss a selected book and literature as a whole. We still follow the fundamental principles agreed that first month and have seen membership in the group swell from four to nine active members today.
Membership Survey 2012
In June 2012 a survey was conducted of all 11 members who have contributed to LBG over the past decade. The survey asked a wide range of questions, from favourite (and least favourite) books, favourite authors and asking for a year-by-year breakdown of favourite titles, forming an overall league table.
